Health and Dental Insurance Plans

We offer two level’s of Manulife’s CoverMe (FlexCare) health insurance plans that provide coverage for health insurance and both dental and prescription drug. The plan is called ComboPlus (their dental only and prescription drug plans are called DentalPlus and DrugPlus respectively).

ComboPlus Basic (both Drug and Dental, basic)

Generic drug coverage. Full coverage of reasonable and customary dispensing fees.

  • 70% of your first $765 of eligible prescription costs.
  • 90% on your next $3850 of eligible prescription costs.
  • Total benefits of $4000 payable per person per year.

Excludes smoking cessation drugs, over the counter drugs, fertility drugs, birth control drugs, and drugs not requiring a prescription.

Dental coverage for fillings, cleanings, scalings, exams, polishing and certain extractions. Recall visits every 9 months.

  • 80% of your first $300 of eligible services.
  • 50% on your next $850 of eligible services.
  • Total benefits of $665 per person per anniversary year.

(Note: Persons over age 65, covers 100% of the first $750 of eligible prescription costs not covered by gov’t health insurance, 90% of the next $3850 per anniversary year)

ComboPlus Enhanced (both Drug and Dental, enhanced)

Name brand or generic drugs. Includes birth control and fertility drugs. Full coverage of reasonable and customary dispensing fees.

  • 90% of your first $2220 of eligible prescription costs.
  • 100% on your next $6000 of eligible prescription costs.
  • Total benefits of $8000 payable per person per year.

Excludes smoking cessation drugs, over the counter drugs,and drugs not requiring a prescription.

Dental coverage for fillings, cleanings, scalings, exams, polishing and most extractions. Recall visits every 6 months.

  • 100% for exams, scaling and diagnostic services, 90% of other ongoing maintenance services to a max of $500.
  • 60% on your next $700 of ongoing maintenance services.
  • Total benefits of $920 per person per anniversary year.

Plus oral surgery, periodontics, endodontics (root canal), orthodontics, crowns,bridges and dentures, max $400 first year and $1250 max benefit payable combined 3 year maximum, based on the following reimbursement percentages:

  • Oral surgery, periodontics and endodontics (root canal): 60% Years 1 and 2, 80% thereafter.
  • Orthodontics, crowns, bridges, dentures: Years 1 and 2 no reimbursement, 60% year 3+.

(Note: Persons over age 65, covers 100% of the first $750 of eligible prescription costs not covered by gov’t health insurance, 90% of the next $7500 per anniversary year)

Basic health insurance

Both insurance plans provide basic health insurance. The basic health insurance coverage with both plans includes:

  • Basic vision of $100 max every 2 benefit years towards prescription lenses, frames, contact lenses and eye surgery. $30 every 2 consecutive benefit years for optometrists fees.
  • Basic extended health care including $20 max. per visit, max 20 visits per anniversary year for chiropractor, chiropodist, osteopath, naturopath, podiatrist, registered massage therapist and acupuncturist.
  • Psychologist, $80 max first visit, $65 max subsequent visits, 10 visit maximum per anniversary year.
  • Chiropractic X-Ray max of $35 per anniversary year.
  • Physiotherapist max $250 per anniversary year.
  • Speech Pathologist/therapist, $65 max first visit, $45 max subsequent visits with 10 visits max per anniversary year.
  • Unlimited ground transporation to hospital and $4000 max air ambulance per year.
  • Hearing aid max of $400 every 4 benefit years.
  • Emergency health coverage of $5 million for trips lasting a maximum of 9 days. Pre-existing conditions apply, and not available for clients 65 and over.

Additional coverages may be available, and coverages are payable only after Government insurance plan maximums have been reached.
